Clothing Closet

This past year has seen some changes to the Clothing Ministry starting with our name-we are now the Clothing Closet!! This year, because of faithful donations, we have seen our outreach continue to grow. Our mission is to help clothe families both within our church and in our communities. The number of non-church shoppers has risen from approx. 4 to approx. 12!! These are people who come to the Closet, faithfully, every other week and often donate clothing themselves! They are also sharing the news of our Closet with their friends and, hopefully, those friends will share with others and so on. That is my goal- to reach as far into our communities as possible. To that end, we, the church body, need to continue telling all our friends and neighbors about the Clothing Closet.
There have been some other changes this year as well. We now have a Children’s Corner in the Closet. This is for the children who come in with their mothers to shop. There are coloring books, crayons and reading books- they will be available each time the Closet is open. Hopefully, this will allow some peaceful shopping time for mom! Also this year, I’d like to offer some small, clean , slightly used toys, games and puzzles {with all their pieces!} that mom may use a Christmas presents. Space is limited, so if you have slightly larger toys {bigger than a shoe box?} please contact me before donating. So, if you do have any such toys that you’d like to donate, please put them in our cart or see me.
I’d like to thank all of those who have donated clothing and other goods over this past year. You have been faithful in meeting all of the needs I have requested and then some! Keep them coming! I’m also excited to say that we have teamed up with a couple of children consignment shops that are willing to donate their “leftovers”. Just a note- our “leftovers” are donated to the women’s shelter in Belleville. If you know of any other such ministries that could benefit from our donations, please feel free to let me know.
In closing, I’d like to thank those of you who have faithfully volunteered your time over the year. I could not have done this without you! May God richly bless each of you. With that said, I still am in great need of others who would like to help. There are many different areas that you could serve. If you feel God leading you in that direction, please contact the EBC office.
